Former Afghanistan cricketer Asghar Afghan is proving his mettle as a cricket expert giving his honest and to-the-point opinions having retired from international cricket sometime back. However, the iconic Afghan player was also set to return on the cricket field in a competition organized for the retired players.

Lately, the star cricketer has confirmed that he was all set to participate in the ongoing edition of the Legends League Cricket 2022. However, things did not pan out smoothly as he is yet to get his visa for visiting India. According to Asghar, he had applied for a visa nearly six weeks ago for taking part in the competition. However, he is hopeful that he will get his visa soon and join his team India Capitals led by the two-time World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir.

"Applied my Indian visa almost 6 weeks ago to take part in @llct20 to represent @CapitalsIndia, unfortunately still didn’t get my Visa but still hopeful & as soon as I get my visa will join my team @SGanguly99 @JayShah @ianuragthakur @GautamGambhir @RaviShastriOfc @timesofindia," his tweet read.

Meanwhile, the India Capitals occupy the second position in the points table having won and lost one match each. One other match was a no result. They have three points to their tally and a net run rate of 1.666 that separates them from the Bhilwara Kings who are placed at the third position.

Asghar Afghan's cricketing career

Asghar Afghan has represented Afghanistan in 114 One Day Internationals and six Tests and has amassed 2,424 and 440 runs in both formats respectively. The middle-order sensation has also appeared in 75 T20Is and has scored 1,382 runs.

Asghar Afghan, formerly known as Asghar Stanikzai, officially announced his retirement from international cricket after the end of Afghanistan's T20 World Cup 2021 clash against Namibia on October 31 last year.

One major cricketing achievement for Asghar Afghan in his illustrious cricketing career was that he was an integral member of the Afghanistan cricket team that won the silver medal in the 2010 edition of the Guangzhou Asian Games.
