So far, criticism directed at Pakistan's derailment in the T20 World Cup 2024 has emanated solely from cricketing circles, including pundits and former cricketers. However, indications suggested that it may now extend to other spheres, as Member of Parliament and Pakistan Peoples Party member, Abdul Qadir Patel, appeared to have paved the way.

Patel voiced his dismay over the cricket team's downfall in the prestigious event in the West Indies and the USA, ridiculing skipper of Pakistan, Babar Azam, during the assembly. He proceeded to humourously censure Babar, drawing comparisons with former captain and erstwhile prime minister, Imran Khan, and his association with the 'Missing Cypher' case that resulted in a decade-long imprisonment for the ex-legend of the game.

During his discourse at the convention, Patel underscored Pakistan's successive defeats against the USA and India, which served as the catalyst for their elimination. He further emphasized the necessity for the team to consolidate in the interest of the nation and its economically disadvantaged populace.

Yeh cricket team ko kya hua (what’s wrong with our cricket team?). They lost to America (USA), they lost to India.   Toh Babar Azam ko apne hi kisi senior cricketer se haarne ke baad ek jalsa rakhe aur ek kaagaz lehraaye, aur bole 'dekho yeh mere khilaaf saazish hui hai (Babar Azam should take a lesson from one of his senior cricketers [hinting at former cricket team captain and Pakistan's ex-Prime Minister, Imran Khan] and throw a party after losing where he should wave some documents in public stating, ‘there’s been a conspiracy against me’,” stated Patel.

"Jab usko PCB waale pakde ki 'uss khat mein kya hai, batao toh sahi ki tum kyu haar gaye?', vol bolte ki 'sir voh toh mere se gum hogaya' (when the PCB gets hold of him and ask him about what exactly was written in those sets of pages, about why Pakistan lost, he would reply that the documents got misplaced)," added Patel.
