RR appoint Vaughan as head of social media for the remainder of IPL 2024
On Monday, April 1, Michael Vaughan made public that he has been appointed as Rajasthan Royals' (RR) head of social media for the remainder of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). The 49-year-old shared a selfie near Gateway of India wearing, donning an RR jersey before the team's clash against Mumbai Indians at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on the same day.
Vaughan, renowned for his quick wit and tongue-in-cheek remarks, is often celebrated for his humour. His social media post, which quickly went viral, appeared entirely genuine but it turned out to be an April Fool's prank.
"So pleased to have signed for the biggest franchise @rajasthanroyals to become head of social media .. Watch this space for great content .. #Mumbai #India #IPL2024live," he wrote on X.
Notably, RR retweeted Vaughan's post and wrote, "After Already getting down to work... #MIvsRR."
