Virat Kohli has been a hot topic in the media for his lean run of form, but the batting ace has added fuel to the fire after making a controversial remark in the presser following the defeat against the prickly neighbours Pakistan on Sunday. The former Indian skipper has now seemingly prolonged the saga after posting a cryptic story on Instagram on Tuesday afternoon before the crunch game against Sri Lanka.
The Indian team were on the losing side against nemesis Pakistan in their first Super 4 clash of the 2022 Asia Cup. The defending champions were ahead of their opponents for the most part of the game but lost the thrilling encounter after some swashbuckling hitting from the Pakistani middle order.
Kohli, who has rediscovered his form to some extent in the ongoing 15th edition of the Asia Cup with consecutive half centuries, made a controversial remark while addressing the journalists after the game. The batting talisman named the only former cricketer who reached out to him after he left Test captaincy earlier in the year.
He has now added another layer to the story by posting a cryptic post related to his comments on Instagram. His story read, "Notice the people who are happy for your happiness, and sad for your sadness. They're the ones who deserve special places in your heart."
Virat Kohli divided opinions after his controversial revelation post the Ind-Pak clash
While Arshdeep Singh's costly drop was scrutinized by the netizens and media alike, Virat Kohli caused a stir of his own by disclosing incidents in the aftermath of his departure from the Test captaincy. He stated that apart from former Indian skipper MS Dhoni, no one came to his aid and messaged him.
"I can say one thing that when I announced my resignation from Test captaincy, I got message from only one person with whom I player earlier, that is MS Dhoni. Many people have my number...many people give suggestions on TV...but the people who had my number, nobody messaged. The respect, the connection that you have with somebody, when that is genuine, it shows this way," Kohli had said in the post-match presser on Sunday.
Kohli's remarks have divided opinions with many people believing the environment behind the scenes contributed to his prolonged lean run of form.
