England pacer Ollie Robinson went for a whopping 43 runs in an over during the County Championship Division Two clash between Sussex and Leicestershire at the County Ground, in Hove.
The right-arm seamer, who has represented England in 20 Tests and taken 76 wickets at 22.92, registered the unwanted record of conceding the most runs in a single over in First-Class cricket. Playing for Sussex, Robinson was taken to the cleaners by Louis Kimber in his 13th over in the first session of Day 4 on Wednesday, June 27.
In the 43-run over, Robinson resorted to bowling deliveries that were on a good length and some just short of it. Kimber lined himself up against the Margate-born, who isn't known for terrifying batters with his speeds, and unleashed some breathtaking strokes that fetched him boundaries all around the park. Towards the end of the over, Robinson went round the wicket to change the angle but he persisted with the back of a length ploy and Kimber made him pay.
It was quite surprising to see the experienced seamer not opting to alter his length and going fuller even after seeing the right-handed batter at ease against the back-of-a-length deliveries. Louis Kimber played cuts and pulls with disdain and also reached the three-figure mark during with the over by swatting a shortish delivery to the off-side boundary. Robinson also didn't help himself, as he bowled three no-balls in the over and each of them found the fence.
