Notably, match 46 is being played at the renowned Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali on Wednesday, May 3. In the same vein, the Mumbai Indians women's team skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur registered her attendance in the crowd. Moreover, the PBKS owner Preity Zinta was spotted cheering for her team along with her husband, Gene Goodenough. Additionally, with cricket being played, it is hard to imagine Bollywood stars not gracing the occasion. Actress Parineeti Chopra was also spotted enjoying the match.
Despite Gujarat Titans not playing today, the sister of Shubman Gill marked her presence in the stands as well. Shaheen Gill was present along with a friend of hers. Meanwhile, speaking of the match, after having won the toss, MI skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field first. However, despite getting early wickets in the middle stage of the match, the decision seemed to have backfired for Mumbai.
At one stage, PBKS were struggling at 95/3 but an unbeaten 199-run stand between Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma piloted the hosts to a mammoth total of 214 runs.
Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan's batting heroics led Mumbai to a sensational victory over Punjab Kings
The hosts gave an early jolt to the visitors in the form of Rohit Sharma. Thereafter, Cameron Green too after getting a start threw away his wicket and left Mumbai reeling at 54/2 at the end of the powerplay. However, this did not stop the Kishan-Yadav duo to charge hard on the visiting bowlers of MI. By the time Suryakumar (66 off 31 balls) departed, MI had already posted 170 runs in their run chase. Opener Kishan showed his attacking cricket today with brisk innings of 75 runs in just 41 balls.
Consequently, with the target in near sight, cameos of Tim David (19* off 10) and Tilak Varma (26* off 10) took MI over the line with a sensational victory over the hosts with seven balls to spare.
