Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a mammoth total on the board against Lucknow Super Giants, thanks to half-centuries from their star batting trio of Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. Star Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who lit up the Chinnaswamy with some sensational shots, was involved in healthy banter with English speedster Mark Wood during the mid-innings break.
The home side were going through the motions after former skipper Virat Kohli's dismissal after a brisk half-century. That is when Glenn Maxwell entered the arena and upped the scoring rate from the get-go. Maxwell registered an explosive half-century off just 24 deliveries in a magnificent stand with skipper Faf du Plessis at the other end.
His innings was eventually cut short in the final over of the first innings when Mark Wood rattled his stumps for his first wicket of the match, reclaiming the Purple Cap with nine scalps to his name. The duo was involved in a funny moment during Maxwell's mid-innings interview when the Victorian handed Wood the Purple Cap. The English speedster showed his Purple Cap to the Aussie, reminding him of his dismissal in the match.
While all the LSG bowlers were taken to the cleaners by the famed RCB trio, Wood was the only bowler who managed to escape the punishment to some extent as he conceded 32 runs in his four overs, the lowest economy among the LSG bowlers.
