The auction for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League has filled the pockets of several women cricketers as franchises have gone all out to rope in the top players. One such player who got sold for a huge amount was India’s medium-fast bowler Renuka Singh. The 27-year-old was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping INR 1.5 crore. Ever since Renuka was bought by the popular franchise, a video of her reacting to getting bids has been going viral on social media.

In the video, the entire team India is seen seated and watching the WPL Auction. As soon as Renuka’s name came up for bidding, the entire team is heard shouting in excitement. The team members are later seen going absolute bonkers when the auctioneer Mallika Sagar closed the deal and confirmed that Renuka was sold to RCB. As soon as the announcement was made, the team jubilantly cheered for Renuka and chanted ‘RCB-RCB’ in celebration. At the end of the video, Renuka is seen hugging Smriti Mandhana who has also been sold to RCB.

Mandhana was the first player to be auctioned at the WPL auction 2023. She was sold for a whopping INR 3.4 crore to RCB and got the auction to a rollicking start, thereby becoming the most expensive player of the WPL 2023.

Meanwhile, Renuka Singh has been one of the stalwarts of Indian bowling in recent times. She has scalped 24 wickets in 27 innings in T20Is at an average of 26.62 and an economy of 6.45. The Himachal Pradesh seamer was the leading wicket-taker in the Commonwealth Games 2022 as she picked up 11 wickets in five matches at an average of 9.45 and an economy of 5.47.

Apart from Mandhana and Renuka, RCB has also bought the services of several other international stars such as Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry, and Erin Burns.
