Legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar’s life-size statue has been unveiled at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, November 1, the eve of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup match between India and Sri Lanka. During the ceremony, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis were present. Tendulkar, who holds the record of 15,921 Test runs and a stunning 18,426 ODI runs, will also attend the unveiling ceremony.
The statue is installed by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) at the Sachin Tendulkar stand at the stadium as an honour for the cricketer’s 50 years of his life. He celebrated his 50th birthday in April 2023.
For the unreversed, Tendulkar bid a farewell to the sport at his home stadium, Wankhede. The right-handed batter played his 200th and final Test match at Wankhede in November 2013, capping a brilliant two-decade career. In the meanwhile, he announced his ODI retirement in 2012. With 664 international games under his belt, the 50-year-old has scored 34,357 runs.

India remain unbeaten in ODI World Cup 2023
Team India is the only team in the ongoing ODI World Cup to win all six games they have played so far. The team captained by Rohit Sharma has been impressive, particularly when they bowl first.
After bowling first in the first five games India were asked to bat first in their sixth match against England. Unfortunately, India made the worst possible start in their innings. However, Rohit Sharma backed his team, playing an 87-run knock that featured 10 boundaries and three maximums as they managed to post 229 runs. The bowlers then led the charge and restricted the defending champions to 129 in 34.5 overs to hand India a win by 100 runs.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's setback against Afghanistan seems their chances of reaching the semi-final are quite difficult. To have any chance of finishing in the top four, the Kusal Mendis-led side will very probably need to win all three of their remaining games, including the upcoming crucial match against hosts India.
