Rohan Gavaskar has come out to clear the air regarding his father's alleged statement, calling it fabricated. Sunil Gavaskar is one of the most respected cricketers of all time. He was a phenomenal batter, and after announcing his retirement, he has gone on to become one of the finest commentators in the game. He is appreciated by the fans for always speaking the truth.

However, he landed into a controversy after a statement was made viral on social media after the India versus Pakistan encounter, where he allegedly lambasted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

"It should be a matter of utter shame for us as Indians for politicizing, ruining and basically hijacking this beautiful game of cricket. BCCI has let India down and tonight’s results are a testimony of it," it was claimed Gavaskar had said.

However, Gavaskar's son has come forward to clear the air. "This is a completely fabricated statement attributed to my father. He hasn’t made this statement and someone is just trying to create mischief. It’s absolutely ridiculous that people would use his name to get more engagement. Please retweet so that the truth prevails," Rohan wrote on his official 'X' handle.

After the India versus Pakistan match on Saturday, September 2, a quote attributed to Sunil Gavaskar was being circulated on social media. An X user named Hassan was the first one to put out the quote and slowly, others also started sharing it. In the quote, it was mentioned that Gavaskar had lambasted BCCI for letting India down in an interview with NDTV. A large section of fans did not believe that the statement came from the former India captain. Now, his son's tweet has clarified that the statement was false.

Fans lashed out at the social media users who were trying to create a rift between Gavaskar and BCCI. They noted that spreading fake quotes about one of the greatest cricketers of all time is completely unacceptable.

Middle order batters bailed India out of trouble after top order failed

India didn't get off to a great start in the Asia Cup 2023 clash against Pakistan, as they lost their first four wickets for just 66 runs. A sensational partnership between Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya bailed India out of the precarious situation. The seven-time champions were eventually bowled out for 266.

As a result, an intriguing second innings was on the cards but incessant rain didn't let Pakistan begin their chase. The match eventually ended in a No Result.
