The semi-final between Pakistan and New Zealand has got underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground in the T20 World Cup 2022 and the Kiwis opted to bat first after winning the toss. The two teams have met a lot of times in the T20I format and recently played against each other in the final of Tri-series in New Zealand. The Blackcaps finished top of their group while Pakistan scampered into the knockouts after South Africa suffered a major upset against the Netherlands.

Earlier, Finn Allen did not last longer after Shaheen Afridi trapped him in front of the wickets. Kane Williamson and Devon Conway were happy to rotate the strike as it was tough work against the Pakistan quicks who were bowling at good pace and length. The powerplay wasn’t much productive for New Zealand due to some tight bowling.

Notably, Pakistan came out all guns firing in the field and Shadab Khan, one of the best fielders going around in the world stopped a certain boundary hit by Kane Williamson in the fourth over of the innings. In the final delivery of the powerplay, Conway just nudged one into the mid-off region and took off for a run without judging the bounce of the ball.

The ball came at an excellent height to Shadab who ensured that he grabbed onto it and released a throw quickly into the stumps. Conway did not put on the dive which could have saved him probably and eventually, ended up falling short of the crease by small margin. It was a huge moment in the game and was evidence of Pakistan's excellence in the field.

Meanwhile, a crucial 68-run partnership between Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell helped the Kiwis to 152 for 4 in their 20 overs at the half-way mark.
