Virat Kohli eyeing dream T20 World Cup campaign
Virat Kohli, who had a forgettable T20 World Cup campaign last year in the UAE barring a valiant half-century against Pakistan in their opening fixture of the tournament, would be hoping to make amends this time around down under.
It is to be noted that the veteran batter has been adjudged the Player of the Tournament twice in the 2014 and the 2016 editions of the T20 World Cup.
Kohli, who witnessed a slump in form since November 2019 had a dream Asia Cup where he finished as the second highest-run getter - scoring 276 runs in five innings.
More importantly, his long wait for his 71st international century also came to an end when he scored an unbeaten 122-run knock during India's final Super 4 encounter against Afghanistan. The ton also marked his first in T20Is.
After the Asia Cup, Kohli went on to play two series-winning knocks against Australia (63) and South Africa (49*) at home.
Ahead of their high-voltage clash against Pakistan on October 23, the Indian team is scheduled to play two warm-up matches against the T20 World Cup defending champions Australia and last edition's runners-up New Zealand on October 17 and 19.
