Having already made it to the Super Eight stages of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team sits in quite a comfortable position atop their group in the marquee tournament. Their final Group A game at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida, was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to a wet outfield.
The game against Canada saw no result produced as both teams shared a point with each other. After the game was called off, India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, paid a surprise visit to the Canada dressing room. He was also presented with a signed jersey from all the Canadian players.
Dravid also gave a short speech about his time playing for India, even recalling his short stint of playing against Scotland in 2003. "Thanks a lot. Want to acknowledge and appreciate the fantastic contribution that you have made to this tournament. I think all of us recognise the struggles and the challenges that you all have to go through to be able to play this sport,” Dravid said.
