The 64th game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is featuring a clash between the David Warner-led Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Wednesday, May 17.
With the game being held in Dharamsala, it is after a long break of 10 years that the cash-rich league has made its much-anticipated return to the venue. With a seating capacity of over 23,000 spectators, the stadium in Himachal Pradesh offers one of the best views and is widely revered as one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world.
Ahead of the clash between Punjab and Delhi, veteran Indian batter and skipper of Punjab Kings, Shikhar Dhawan, could not hide his excitement about playing a game at the venue. He mentioned that the entire team is excited to play at the venue and further branded it as one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world.
"We are very excited as a team to play here. Dharamsala is one of the most beautiful grounds in the world, I have played here before, and I felt very good to play in the mountains. We are lucky we have two matches scheduled here. I am sure we are all going to have a great time," Dhawan said in a video shared by the IPL.
Punjab Kings aim to book playoff berth
Things are quite complex for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2023; currently, the side finds itself in eighth place on the IPL points table with 12 points in just as many games. With a net run rate of -0.268, the qualification scenario for the side looks rather bleak.
However, as they take on the David Warner-led Delhi Capitals, Punjab will look to register a big win against the struggling side to improve upon their net run rate and win their two matches to make a strong case for a spot in the knockout stages of the tournament.
