India face Pakistan on September 2
Speaking of team India’s assignments, the side will begin its Asia Cup 2023 campaign by taking on arch-rivals Pakistan in their first game of the competition on September 2. It is worth noting that the game will be held at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
India will look to get off to a positive start to the tournament, and there could be no better way to start than to defeat Pakistan in the very first game of the competition. Sri Lanka will come into the tournament as defending champions, as they won the marquee event in 2022 when it was held in the T20 format. However, the tournament will be held in the ODI format in 2023 due to the ODI World Cup looming around the corner.
The Asia Cup 2023 will also prove to be good practice for the World Cup, which is scheduled to begin on October 5 and will be completely hosted by India. The Indian team begins their World Cup campaign by taking on Australia on October 8 in Chennai.
