New Zealand are ready to take on the world as they gear up for the upcoming 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup. The players left for the Caribbean from home on Wednesday, May 29 as per a video on X (formerly Twitter).
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) had appointed two 10-year-olds Angus and Matilda to announce the BlackCaps squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The unique way to read out the 15 player names at a press conference in a video shared on their social media quickly went viral.
But Angus and Matilda didn't just announce the team, they went the extra mile to see the players off at the airport before they departed for the marquee event in the West Indies and USA. Both the kids were seen interacting with the squad at the check-in desk of the airport. The duo interviewed the squad members, asking questions about “What would they be watching on the plane?” and “Who will they miss the most?” Lastly, they congratulated each player on their selection and even snapped photos with them as the BlackCaps departed for the global 20-team tournament.
