The 2022 champions Gujarat Titans (GT) pulled off a thrilling chase against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday, May 6. The narrow victory came under the DLS method after back-to-back rain interruptions.

Meanwhile, GT’s top-order batter Jos Buttler was seen spending time in the streets of Mumbai, playing cricket with local kids. The star batter played with a stick while a child bowled to him and the kids jumped in joy when the ball went long along the ground.

Speaking of the game, GT skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to field first. MI posted a total of 155 with a solid knock from Will Jacks (53 off 35), Suryakumar Yadav (35 off 24), and the closing done by Corbin Bosch (27 off 22). The rest of the MI batting lineup failed, where all of them registered single-digit scores. GT bowler Sai Kishore took two wickets, and every other bowler chipped in with one wicket each.

The chase was delayed by a couple of rain interruptions and later their innings was reduced to 19 overs, with a revised target of 147. The GT opener Gill led from the front with a calm 43 off 46 balls, and well-supported by Buttler (30 off 27) and Sherfane Rutherford (28 off 15).

GT needed 15 runs off the final over bowled by Deepak Chahar. Rahul Tewatia hit a boundary, and Gerald Coetzee followed with a six. Off the last ball, Arshad Khan managed to push the ball toward mid-off and ran the single which gave GT an eighth victory in IPL 2025.

The win made GT move to the top of the points table, and MI’s six-match winning streak came to an end where they are currently in fourth place with 14 points. GT will face the Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 11, and MI will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) on the same day in the evening.
