The T20 fever has taken over the entire world with the onset of the Indian Premier League 2023. The fans got to witness another last-over thriller in the T20 extravaganza as Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 13 runs on Saturday, April 22 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The game went all the way down to the last over as Mumbai, who were chasing a target of 215, needed 16 runs to win from the last six balls with six wickets in hand. Arshdeep Singh was given the responsibility to defend 15 runs for Punjab and the left-arm seamer delivered in style, destroying the stumps of Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera on consecutive deliveries. The Southpaw gave away just two runs in the entire over and set up a 13-run win for his side.

Following their loss, taking a jibe at Mumbai Indians, PBKS shared a photograph of the stumps broken by Arshdeep’s yorker in the final over on their official Twitter handle, and wrote, “Hey @MumbaiPolice, we'd like to report a crime.”

Mumbai Police were quick to respond as they took to Twitter and replied, “Action is most likely to be taken on breaking the law, not stumps!”

Arshdeep finished his spell recording 4/29 in four overs and also got the Purple cap for becoming the highest wicket-taker of the season so far with 13 wickets to his name in 7 matches.

Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green kept MI in hunt

Coming back to the match, after being put in to bat first by MI captain Rohit Sharma, Punjab Kings posted a massive total of 214/8 in the first innings courtesy of brilliant knocks from captain Sam Curran (55 off 29) and Harpreet Singh (41 off 28). Piyush Chawla was the pick of the bowlers for MI as he picked 2/15 in three overs.

In reply, Mumbai didn’t get off to the best of the starts as they lost their opener Ishan Kishan in the second over of the innings for just 1. However, Rohit Sharma (44 off 27), Cameron Green (67 off 43) and Suryakumar Yadav (57 off 26) helped their side get closer to PBKS’ total. However, Arshdeep Singh’s brilliance with the ball denied them a win.
