Pat Cummins-led Australia got off to a magnificent start to the Ashes 2023, winning the first two Tests in Birmingham and London, before losing the third encounter. Their brilliant start to the marquee series brought about confidence and gathered major traction from fans all across the globe.
Despite there being several positives to take away from the first three Tests, there have been a few negative points as well. One of the biggest worries for Australia could be the form of veteran batter David Warner as the 36-year-old has only managed to score 141 runs in the first three Tests.
His form has forced many experts and fans to opine that he should be dropped from the playing XI for the forthcoming matches, furthermore, there has been major scrutiny over him being constantly dismissed by star English pacer Stuart Broad.
Amidst the scrutiny, the southpaw took to Instagram to post a cryptic quote that left the fans questioning its meaning. "When my circle got smaller, my vision got clearer. There’s strength in loyalty, not numbers," the quote read. Furthermore, Warner captioned the post, "Don’t be fooled!"
Ahead of the fourth Ashes 2023 Test, the Aussies will need to face a major question over the selection of David Warner at Old Trafford. Considering his record, the 36-year-old has been incredible for his side over the years, however he has been unable to perform in recent months.
He failed to make an impact in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, was dismissed cheaply in the final of the World Test Championship and has been showcasing poor form at the ongoing Ashes as well.
It could be interesting to see how Pat Cummins-led Australia will go about their playing XI for the fourth Test and whether or not their star opener will be included. It is worth noting that England and Australia once again face each other in the fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford, Manchester from July 19.
