‘Win together lose together’ - Harbhajan Singh schools Twitter user after latter credits MS Dhoni for India's maiden World T20 title success

Day 5 of the World Test Championship final (WTC) 2023 ended in heartbreak for the Indian team. Looking to chase down a target of 444 runs, the Rohit Sharma-led side succumbed to a massive defeat under the relentless pressure of Australia’s bowling attack.

Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland were sensational for Australia in the second innings, taking four and three wickets, respectively on Day 5. Before the day started, team India looked to be in command with Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane on strike. However, after Kohli’s early dismissal, the rest of the batting order failed to make an impact during the run chase. 

Following India’s heartbreaking loss, many fans took to social media to lambast the poor decision-making of the side throughout the five days of the WTC final. Furthermore, many brought up the poor captaincy of Rohit Sharma as well, as India has been struggling to win big in ICC tournaments for quite some time now. 

Similarly, a Twitter user heaped praise on former skipper MS Dhoni and emphasised how his leadership was crucial to India winning many ICC tournaments in the past. "No coach , no mentor , young boys, and most of the senior player's denied to take part. never captained a single match before. This guy defeated prime Australia in the semifinals and won a T20 World Cup in 48 days after becoming captain," the tweet read.

Seeing the tweet, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh was quick to reply and mentioned that cricket is a team game, and success in the sport shouldn't be credited to a standalone player rather the entire team should be lauded for the same.

"Yes, when these matches were played, this young boy was playing alone from India—not the other 10 .. so alone he won the World Cup trophies. Irony when Australia or any other nation win the World Cup headlines says Australia or etc. country won. But when India wins, it’s said captain won; it’s a team sport. Win together, lose together," Harbhajan Singh tweeted.
