The highly-anticipated India versus Pakistan clash in the 2024 T20 World Cup lived up to its billing as the two teams fought tooth and nail in front of 34,000 enthusiastic fans at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, June 9.
ICC's move to bring cricket to the USA is paying rich dividends as the sport is gradually growing in the sports-loving nation. The performance of the USA national team in the competition is serving as icing on the cake as Monank Patel's men have registered back-to-back wins and are in contention of securing Super Eight qualification in their maiden T20 World Cup appearance. However, a popular newspaper's report of the India versus Pakistan clash will accentuate the fact that cricket still has a lot of ground to make in the United States.

Jasprit Bumrah stars in India's nerve-wracking triumph
After Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bowl first in overcast conditions, Pakistan bowlers ruled the roost and bowled out India for 119 in 19 overs. Rohit Sharma's men lost their last seven wickets for 30 runs as only three Indian batters could get to double figures. Rishabh Pant top-scored with a 31-ball 42 in testing conditions.
The pitch was on the slower side and offering variable bounce but Pakistan would have fancied their chances of chasing the 120-run target. They were 72/2 at the end of 12 overs and needed just 48 runs off as many balls to register only their second win against India in T20 World Cups. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya bowled superbly at the backend of the innings and were equally well supported by fellow pacers Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj. Pakistan struggled to find the boundaries in the death overs as the Indian bowlers kept things tight and Rohit was excellent with his field placements. Eventually, the Men in Green could only manage 113/7 in their 20 overs.
Bumrah won the Player of the Match award after finishing with remarkable figurs of 3/14. Hardik missed out with the bat but bagged a couple of wickets in his four-over spell. Meanwhile, Arshdeep and Axar Patel chipped in with one wicket apiece as the win helped India climb to the top of Group A.
