Delhi Capitals played their last fixture against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2021 and bagged victory by four wickets. The victory became brilliant as DC turned a corner after getting trapped in a crunch situation earlier. Right after their epic victory, head coach Ricky Ponting added that sometimes his passion for his team Delhi Capitals gets the better of him.

As soon as DC won against MI and probably sealed their top-two finish, Ponting could be seen celebrating the victory with clenched fists. Ponting who has been mentoring DC for quite some time gets seen having intense discussions with team members during the game and his passions for Capitals clearly comes on the table for fans to notice.

“Sometimes my passion for my team gets the better of me! Always hard to beat MI, tough conditions for batting but Shreyas and Ashwin did exactly what we needed them to do. Great win,” tweeted Ricky Ponting.

Talking about the same game, MI after being put to bat first, could only post 129 runs on the board owing to their feeble batting. None of their batters rose to the occasion with Suryakumar Yadav’s 33 runs being the highest from their end. It was a brilliant bowling show from DC’s bowlers wherein Axar Patel and Avesh Khan bowled brilliantly to pick three wickets each under their belts.

Patel was declared as the player of the match with three wickets and nine runs from his end. While DC chased down, they lost wickets in quick succession with only Shreyas Iyer (33 off 33) taking the charge of the team responsibly. Pant added 26 runs from his side.

“I think I’m varying my pace well, and also able to read the batter’s mind, think I’m one step ahead of them and that’s helping me. In that sense, it’s going well for me at the moment. I thought he’ll try to attack me (on his dismissal of Quinton de Kock), I felt he will try to go over cover and that’s why I went wide off-stump, he ended up slicing it to backward point,” said Patel after being declared MoM.
