With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis, all foreign players left India to get back home. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended the gala T20 tournament midway due to multiple COVID-19 cases inside the bio bubble.

Owing to the pandemic, the overseas stars have to serve a mandatory period before reuniting with their loved ones. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Sam Curran also falls in that category as the southpaw is currently quarantining at a hotel in England.

On Thursday, the southpaw took to Instagram and penned a heartfelt birthday note for his girlfriend Isabella Symonds-Willmott. As Curran can’t meet his partner due to the isolation norms, he asked for forgiveness. However, the 22-year-old didn’t hold back in showering love for his girlfriend.

“A very big Happy Birthday to @isabellasymondswillmott sorry I can’t be there today, hope you have the most amazing day, can’t wait to see you in a few days. Thank you for everything,” wrote Curran while sharing a couple of adorable pictures.

Meanwhile, the dashing all-rounder was having a gala time in IPL 2021 till the lucrative tournament got suspended. The left-arm fast bowler took wickets regularly, while his brief but effective cameos also helped CSK. In total, he scored 52 runs alongside taking nine wickets in seven outings. As a result, the MS Dhoni-led side won five of their first seven games and was second in the team standings at the time of season suspension.

The three-time champions need just three victories in their remaining seven games to confirm a berth in the playoffs. Hence, MS Dhoni’s men would be raring to get back in action again and continue their winning run. However, the participation of Curran and other England players in the remaining season is under dark clouds.

ECB Director of Cricket Ashley Giles recently stated that the availability of English players would be in doubt if IPL gets rescheduled. Apart from Curran, many big guns like Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Eoin Morgan, Jonny Bairstow, and Moeen Ali also ply their trade in IPL. Hence, the absence of these players would indeed jolt their respective teams, and the franchises would want the availability of these stars.
