Bangladesh will engage themselves in a two-match Test series against the mighty Australians in August at home. For young and promising talent Soumya Sarkar it will be much more than just an ordinary Test encounter. It will mark the 24-year-old’s first test series against the Kangaroos and he is all set to get a taste of real deal.

What Sarkar had to say:

However, the hard-hitting all-rounder seems pretty confident prior to the big Test. According to Sarkar, he would like to contribute immensely to the series as a batsman. Considering the fact that this will be his first against the men in yellow he also wants to make it a series worth remembering.

“It will be the first time, I would play a Test series against Australia. So I want to make the series memorable. I shall try to help my team with the bat.” claimed Soumya Sarkar.

Sarkar, who broke into the international scene in the year of 2015, hopes to perform as a team in what will be a combined effort. The right arm bowler is drawing inspiration from the home series where Bangladesh squashed visitors England. The Satkhira born cricketer is confident about doing the same against the Australians if the team stays united.

“We have been doing well in Test cricket for last couple of months. We beat England last year in our home ground. So I think we have a big opportunity now. All the players have been waiting to put their best in the field. Hopefully we shall be able to beat them by performing well” he concluded.

Soumya Sarkar has featured in 7 Test matches for his country scoring 486 runs in the 13 innings that he got to bat. The young star has the highest score of 86 runs with an average of 37. As far as ODI’s are concerned, he has scored 959 runs in 31 One Day internals at an average of 35.51. His highest score in the 50 over format stands at 127 not out.
