Over the years, we’ve seen a good number of biopics being made on Indian cricketers. The likes of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story and Sachin: A Billion Dreams have been touted as blockbusters. Both sportsmen have enjoyed great popularity amongst the Indian audience, so it wasn’t a surprise.

While the Kapil Dev biopic is also on the floors, there are talks of another biopic which is creating buzz. The one on former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is bound to take all the Dada fans away with a toss. While there have been no confirmations yet, the discussions are on.

Earlier this year, Sourav Ganguly released his autobiography ‘A Century Is Not Enough’. Now if reports are to be believed, the novel may well be turned into a movie or a series. Looking at the ups and downs in Ganguly’s career, the idea of a biopic may not be bad at all.

Work on the movie requires more details

According to a report in Inuth, Balaji Pictures has been in talks with the former Indian skipper. When asked, Ganguly was quoted as saying, “I have had a few discussions with Balaji, though nothing is final yet. I’ll have more details once we take this forward.”

Sourav Ganguly was India’s most successful captain before MS Dhoni arrived into the scenes. He’s particularly known for taking up the captaincy following the eruption of a huge match-fixing saga in 2000. Under his leadership, India won many memorable games. The left-handed batsman also faced a number of downfalls in his career.

His fight with coach Greg Chappell is regarded as on the ugliest controversies in Indian cricket. Having scored over 18000 runs in his international career, Ganguly is highly regarded as one of the best batsmen to have played for India. His career was a huge roller coaster ride and there’s no doubt that the fans will be raring to watch his biopic.
