Sourav Ganguly is fondly called ‘the Prince of Kolkata’. He belongs to one of the richest families in the city and his family leads a royal life. This is the reason behind him being given such name. But former Indian captain doesn’t believe in showing off. He attended a meeting in a yellow taxi like a common man.

Sourav Ganguly’s car broke down

When ‘Dada’ was asked why he showed up like this, he replied that his car broke down in between that’s why he was commuting like this. ” My car had broken down on the mid way so I had to catch a yellow taxi as the meeting is very important,” Ganguly replied as quoted by the xtratime.com

Sourav Ganguly is the chairman of the technical committee of the BCCI. The board was supposed to meet in Kolkata today, to discuss the format of the Ranji Trophy.

Another meeting of fixtures and tours committee was scheduled after this, which was supposed to decide fixtures for the Australia’s tour to India. Australia would play an ODI series in India around October and November.

Reaching this meeting was very important but ahead of this, the unfortunate incident happened with the left-handed batsman. After leaving his home for the meeting, Ganguly attended the funeral of DR. Kalyan Mukherjee. After the funeral, former Indian captain was coming to attend the meeting.

While coming for meeting his car broke down midway and he had to reach the meeting in an ordinary taxi.

Ganguly traveled in a train in July

This was not a one-off incident for the left-handed batsman. In July too, Sourav Ganguly decided to board a train to reach Balurghat, where the inauguration of his bronze statue was planned.

These incidents show that Sourav Ganguly is a very modest person in spite of being a national icon.
