Sourav Ganguly hails India's classic show at MCG with special mention to skipper Ajinkya Rahane

India defeated Australia in the Melbourne Test by eight wickets and bagged a memorable win to level the series 1-1. The Ajinkya Rahane led team outclassed the hosts in both the departments as they came up as real warriors in the crucial hours. After their brilliant victory, notable people from the cricket fraternity are coming up to laud the efforts of the Indian team. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is the new one on the list, and he has lauded the team’s stunning efforts at MCG.

He made a special mention to India’s stand-in captain Rahane, who came up with a remarkable ton in the first innings and led the team home in style in the second innings. Ganguly also mentioned senior players like Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin in his tweet as they played a crucial role in India’s victory.

The match became the utmost important time to perform for India as they displayed an utterly dismal show in the Adelaide Test. The entire team got bundled up on just 36 runs in the second innings of the game, making it India’s lowest ever in Test cricket history.

The win came at the time when India was struggling with the injury woes, and players like Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma were out of the squad. The biggest support system of the team, skipper Virat Kohli was also out of the team owing to paternity leave.

Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Ashwin became the leader of India’s bowling set up and gave breakthroughs regularly. They bagged a maximum no of wickets while pushing the team towards the victory line. Debutant Shubman Gill also impressed the fans and cricket fraternity big time in the MCG game.
