Sourav Ganguly, during his playing days, was renowned for effortlessly using his feet against the bowlers. He “danced down the wicket” and was particularly severe on the left-arm spinners. The Prince of Kolkata used to dance down the track and smash them over the long-off and long-on region with sheer ease. He had a tremendous hand and eye coordination because of which he was an ominous prospect for the oppositions.
However, his reflexes slowed down as age caught up with him. Nevertheless, age hasn’t caught up with Dada’s footwork. The former Indian skipper, also known as the ‘Prince of Kolkata’ employs a dignified approach and doesn’t prefer to attend a lot of parties. Moreover, he isn’t known for being a very open and vibrant kind of character.
The new avatar
Recently, he decided to break the monotony and resorted to shaking a leg in a gathering. He danced on the song ‘Subah Hone Na De’ from the John Abraham and Akshay Kumar-starrer Desi Boyz, which hit the silver screen back in 2011.

He was an indefatigable trooper of Indian cricket who will always be remembered for his aggressive and go-getter approach on the cricket pitch. He took over the leadership mantle at the time when Indian cricket went through their worst phase following match-fixing scandals. The 45-year old won India their home Test series against Australia in 2001 and that changed the face of Indian cricket forever.
He captained the national team in the 2003 World Cup in South Africa and took them to the final against Australia. He didn’t look back thereafter and surged ahead to now be deemed as one of the legends of world cricket. He scored over 18,000 runs in international cricket and was also a more than handy medium pacer. The retired cricketer is currently the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and involved in administrative capacity.
