Team India lost the second T20 International against South Africa as the home side gunned down the total of 188 stunningly in Centurion. Though the fans of the visitors were pleased with the performance of the veteran MS Dhoni who notched up his second half-century in the T20Is on the day. His hitting in the last couple of overs helped India post a more than competitive total on the board. However, the former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has lavished praises on Dhoni after having a brilliant outing at the Supersport Park.

The Indian wicket-keeper came out to bat with the team’s score reading 90/4 in the 11th over and the set batsman Suresh Raina had just lost his wicket. India needed a partnership and most importantly had to play their full quota of 20 overs avoiding a possible collapse. Dhoni, as usual, took some time to settle during which his partner Manish Pandey churned out runs in every possible manner.

Once, he got his eye in, it was a finisher of the old at work as he pummelled every bowler that came his way. He took charge in the last couple overs when Pandey was looking tired after playing a heroic knock until then. In the process, Dhoni also completed his blistering half-century and remained unbeaten on 52 off 28 deliveries. The Men in Blue also posted a mammoth total of 188 runs after 20 overs despite losing wickets early on in the innings.

He batted superbly

Sourav Ganguly, however, was thrilled to see Dhoni regaining his form in the format and reiterated his belief that he needs some deliveries to tonk the ball out of the ground. “MS Dhoni was brilliant and batted superbly. I have always said he needs deliveries under his belt to play well and once again he showed it. Hopefully, he will get a few more deliveries and he will be very, very dangerous,” he told India Today in an interview.

MS Dhoni has once again shut his critics in style and has proved his worth to the team. The top order of the team rarely fails to deliver, but when it fails the veteran has always stood up and delivered. Not long ago his place in the T20 side was questioned by many including some of the former Indian cricketers and this knock to shut the debate now.
