Indian businessman Harsh Goenka is not a new name for the cricket fans in India. He has made it a habit to be in the news for his brutal yet subtle digs at the Indian team and the Indian team cricketers over the last couple of years. His most recent victim is India’s opener Rohit Sharma. Rohit has been struggling with his form in the ongoing tour of South Africa.

Prior to the commencement of the tour, Rohit was in sublime hitting form. In the ODI series against Sri Lanka, he had hit his third ODI double ton. Also, in the T20I series, he had clobbered the joint fastest T20I century in one of the fixtures. Certainly, he was expected to dictate terms and dominate the opposition bowlers in South Africa as well.

It was because of this very reason that Rohit Sharma found a place in the Test side as well, and that too ahead of someone like Ajinkya Rahane. He failed miserably in the first Test at Cape Town. In the second Test at Centurion, he did manage to get a score in the 40s but in vain.

He was subsequently dropped from the side for the final Test. The ODI series arrived and everyone, including Rohit himself, believed that the fortunes would certainly change with the change in format. But Rohit failed to score big in the first ODI at Durban. In the Centurion ODI, he again showed great promise by hitting a six in the very first over of the chase but threw his wicket away after scoring just 15.

His poor run of form gave Harsh Goenka a very good chance to troll him. Goenka, through his tweet, quipped that Rohit is much like Mahatma Gandhi. Both of them did all their practice in South Africa but performed or had their actions unroll in India. This was a subtle dig calling Rohit a home track bully.

Here is what Harsh Goenka tweeted:

“Mahatma Gandhi developed his philosophy in South Africa but all his action was in India. Rohit Sharma, the same. #INDvsSA,” tweeted Harsh Goenka.
