South Africa vs India: Ravi Shastri hints at Pujara improving his running henceforth

Team India has been at the receiving end of the critics ever since they conceded the ongoing series against South Africa. With the defeat in the Centurion Test, team India now lag behind with a scoreline of 0-2 in the 3-match Test series. While Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been facing harsh verbal volleys, many wondered what the Indian head coach Ravi Shastri is up to.

Ravi Shastri was very active prior to the commencement of the series and had made some bold remarks about his side. However, he is yet to come out and face the media following two embarrassing defeats. Well, it remains to be seen when Shastri takes on the questions of the media like Virat Kohli. For now, he has given a subtle hint at the improvisations team India is keen on implementing.

Shastri recently posted a picture on his Twitter handle which was cryptic in many ways. In the picture, he is seen with Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and a baby cheetah. The two gentlemen are all smiles in the picture. However, the caption that Ravi Shastri added to it puts a lot of weight on the message that he possibly wishes to convey.

In his tweet, he asked the fans to ‘watch his boy’ in the coming games. Certainly, this was a reference made to Cheteshwar Pujara. And the cheetah in the picture hinted that Shastri wants Pujara to be as quick as a cheetah whilst running between the wickets.

It is worth noting that Cheteshwar Pujara entered the record books for infamous reasons in the Centurion Test. He became the first Indian cricketer to be run out in both innings of the Test match in the history of the game. In the first innings, his run proved to be a suicidal one considering the fact that it was the very first ball that he faced. Hence, going for a cheeky single did not make much sense.

In the second innings, he played well to negotiate for his 19 runs, but ended up falling short of his crease in an attempt to convert a single to a double.
