Pakistan’s ace leg-spinner in Tests, Yasir Shah, is on the verge of completion of a special feat as he is just one wicket shy of becoming the quickest to reach the tally of 150 wickets in the longest format of the game.

After making his debut in 2014, it took just 13 games for Shah to occupy the number one bowler’s spot in Test cricket according to ICC rankings. During those matches, he picked up a whopping 86 wickets. It is a well-renowned phenomenon by now that the Shah is the clear favorite of the greatest leg spinner ever produced, Australian spin wizard Shane Warne.

There have been numerous occasions when Shane Warne has rated Yasir Shah as the best leg-spinner in the modern game. So much so that he specially offered to coach the 31-year old and had a few sessions already with the Pakistani spinner.

Shah- one wicket away to achieve a unique feat

Yasir Shah now as the opportunity to equal his compatriot Waqar Younis’s record who brought up the milestone in just 27 games. As of now Yasir Shah has played as many as 26 games and clinched 149 wickets with the best of 7/76.

He would then become the fastest spinner to reach the milestone which is presently held by yet another Pakistani by the name of Saeed Ajmal, who picked up 150 wickets in just 29 games.

Much like Trinbago Knight Riders who replaced the services of Shah with 18-year old sensation Shadab Khan, Pakistan has also done the same in coloured clothing. Shah went on to state that he would want to make a comeback in the ODI and T20I squad for the men in green.

Yasir Shah last played an ODI game more than a year back against England at Nottingham. In the 17 games he has played so far he has picked up 18 wickets with the best of 6/26 against Zimbabwe at Harare. That said, it would be a herculean task to replace Shadab Khan in white ball cricket for Shah.
