India defeated Pakistan in yet another World Cup encounter and the Man of the match could have been just one person, Virat Kohli. Kohli showed why he averages almost a 100 in chases and why no pitch or bowling attack could have ever stopped him from winning this match for India.
Kohli’s master class 55* and support from Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni meant that India continued their unbeaten streak even on a ground where Pakistan had not lost a single match against India. But Indian bowlers stopped Pakistan for a paltry 118 and then despite a burst of energy from Mohd Amir and Mohd Sami, India kept calm and worked their way on a difficult pitch to a well-earned victory.
The match had started with former Pakistan and India cricketers being felicitated by the Cricket Association of Bengal and with megastar Amitabh Bachchan singing the national anthem in front of 70,000 plus fans in the Eden Gardens.
