Young wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson has stunned the opponents with his brilliant knocks in his last two outings with Rajasthan Royals. Apart from displaying a great show with the willow, he has delivered behind wickets too.
In the last match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), he played a terrific inning of 85 runs as his team chased down the heavy target of 223 with three balls to spare. The collective effort from batsmen led the Royals to clinch victory by four wickets.
In the light of his great class, which is moving at a constant pace, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor compared him with former Indian captain MS Dhoni. Dhoni has kept the wickets for the Men in Blue in an absolutely brilliant way for so many years and has been great with willow too. Samson also has shown great form in both the departments and therefore, this comparison has been drawn.
Tharoor tweeted- “What an absolutely incredible win for @rajasthanroyals! I’ve known @iamSanjuSamson for a decade & told him when he was 14 that he would one day be the next MS Dhoni. Well, that day is here. After his two amazing innings in this IPL, you know a world-class player has arrived.”
Sanju Samson doesn’t need to be next anyone: Gambhir
But two cricketers, namely Gautam Gambhir and Sreesanth, came up with their tweets and stated that Samson doesn’t need to be compared to anybody. He has his own identity, and in the same manner, he will break many records for team India. Also, MS Dhoni is one of its kind, and no comparison needs to be drawn between these two.
Gambhir tweeted- “Sanju Samson doesn’t need to be next anyone. He will be ‘the’ Sanju Samson of Indian Cricket.”

Sreesanth also tweeted- “He is not next Dhoni ., he is @IamSanjuSamson the one and only. he should have been playing from 2015 regularly in all formats.pls don’t compare him, if he had given right opportunities then, he would have been playing like this for India and would have won world cups ..but”
