The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 witnessed a fair share of humdingers that constantly kept the fans on the edge of their seats. The Chennai Super Kings were the best batting side in the IPL while the Sunrisers Hyderabad were the best bowling side. The fact that CSK’s batting collided with SRH’s bowling in the final game to determine the champion ensured that IPL ended on a perfect note.
These two teams met three times before in the season and CSK had won all three, the Sunrisers Hyderabad, also lost four games in a row in the latter half of the tournament which indicated they had lost the momentum to a certain extent. SRH bowlers carried them throughout the tournament by defending low totals match after match.
However, they were no competition for CSK as the yellow brigade defeated Kane Williamson’s men for the fourth time in a single season. It was a good season for SRH as they were without the services of their regular skipper David Warner but despite that played like a champion side.
Lost the game but not the spirit
Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan took to Twitter and promised the fans that the Orange Army will be more determined and return back stronger next season. He tweeted: “Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. We might have lost the match, but we haven’t lost our spirit. We will be back next year, stronger and more determined. A big Thank You to all the fans for the tremendous love and support you showed throughout the season. #OrangeArmy.”

The southpaw did not have a really good season as per his standards. He was not able to convert his starts and failed to perform consistently. This added more pressure on Williamson as the whole of SRH’s batting revolved around him and he needed to perform consistently for his side to win. It became very difficult for SRH to score when Williamson failed. The management has time in hand to analyse and evaluate their options before heading into the next season.
