Sri Lanka and West Indies are all set to face each other in a two-match Test series starting from Sunday, November 21. The matches are scheduled to be played at the Galle International Stadium. Thus, ahead of the start of the series, the Sri Lanka Cricket has announced their 22-men strong squad for the Test series.

With the likes of batter Kamil Mishara, leg-spinner Suminda Lakshan, and pace bowler Chamika Gunasekerahree, three uncapped players have made their way into the squad. All three players have displayed their fiefdom in the domestic circuit and that paved their way into the team for the upcoming Test series. All-rounder Angelo Mathews has also made his return to the side after the contract issues with the Sri Lanka board.

Owing to their heroics in white-ball cricket, Charith Asalanka and Chamika Karunaratne have also been included in the team. Dimuth Karunaratne is all set to lead the team and his contributions at the top order will be pivotal for the side. The team also has some notable spinners who are expected to make a larger impact on the team.

West Indies aiming their maiden Test victory in Sri Lanka

West Indies hasn’t won a Test match on the island in the last three decades. The team will thus be eyeing their first Test victory in Sri Lanka. The teams have faced each other 11 times in the format in the country, wherein Windies have lost on seven occasions and have managed to pull a draw in four matches. Moreover, West Indies has had a decent year in red-ball games lately.

The team has defeated Bangladesh away and drawn home series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The team’s victory over Pakistan in Jamaica in August provided them with their first points in the new cycle of the World Test Championship. Whereas on the other hand, Sri Lanka is yet to open their account.
