Sri Lanka have won the toss and skipper Chandimal decided to bowl first.

After winning the Test series 3-0 and losing the ODI series 4-1 Sri Lanka host Australia for the last leg of the tour in the 2-match T20I series starting at Pallekele today. The Lankans would want to ensure a winning start since it is also the last international series of one of their best openers Tillakaratne Dilshan. In regular skipper Angelo Mathews’ absence Dinesh Chandimal will be leading the side whereas David Warner at the other end would want to mark a winning start to his T20I captaincy campaign as well. Sri Lanka and Australia have met 8 times in T20Is and Sri Lanka has won 6 while Australia has had success just twice, also Sri Lanka won all the 3 bilateral series.

Ahead of the game, Chandimal said, “We’ll learn from these mistakes and come back stronger,” “One series you are going to win, another series you are going to lose.”

About the result of the Test and ODI series against Australia, he said, “One series you are going to win, another series you are going to lose.”

Australian skipper David Warner probably has cracked the code of success on the pitches in the subcontinent. “In these conditions, you’re going to have to sweep, you need to use your feet, you’re going to have to watch the ball hard on to the bat where you can’t leave the ball because one is going to skid on,” Warner said.
