Sri Lanka v Pakistan 5th ODI 5 talking points: The final ODI of the Sri Lanka v Pakistan 5-match series at Hambantola was hoped to end up as yet another dominating performance for the Pakistanis. But a fearless Sri Lankan side with nothing to lose as the series had already been lost, took up the ante right from the start of the match. Opting to bat first, they made a thunderous start and nailed a gigantic total of 369 runs for the Pakistanis to chase. In reply, Pakistanis looked to have readily accepted the challenge but failed to capitalize by losing wickets at constant intervals. In the end, it resulted in a smooth victory for Sri Lanka by a margin of 165 runs.

As it happened, the Sri Lankan openers in the likes of Kusal Perera and Tilekaratne Dilshan geared up the scoring rate of the team right from the initial overs. In fact, Perera managed to score a glamorous century as he scored 116 runs off 109 deliveries with 9 fours and 4 sixes. Dilshan assisted Perera well and scored 62 off 70 deliveries with 6 fours. The opening partnership contributed to a total of 164 runs in 25 overs when Dilshan was dismissed in the 26th over of the innings.
