Srilanka&#8217;s Probable Squad for Cricket World Cup 2015: Look at the past three World Cups, and even from a layman&#8217;s point of view, Sri Lanka are clearly the most consistent team. Undoubtedly, Sri Lanka are the hot favourites for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. The resurgence of the Lankan lions started in 1990s, where they threw away the tag of the underdogs. It was in 1996, they won the ICC Cricket World Cup and has not looked back till now. Big names like Sanath Jayasurya, Marvan Attapattu, Arvinda Desilva, Chaminda Vaas, Muttiah Muralitharan  and many more like Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene have graced the field for this extremely talented team. Srilanka have a tough pool in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. They are in Pool A along with dominant teams like Australia and England. The presence of Newzealand clearly threatens their qualification to the next stage. Srilanka have comparatively a young team inexperienced to put forward in the World Cup. But, as they say India won the 1983 World Cup with an inexperienced team. So the new generation Lankan team is not to be discounted. They are a force to reckon with. He does to Srilanka what Sehwag did for India in the yesteryear. Although with his un-orthodox style one cannot expect him to notch big scores consistently, the quick fire cameos makes a lot of difference in terms of giving a good start to the proceedings at the top. Kusal Perera is already dubbed as the next Jayasurya, although it is impossible to emulate the great Lankan. He scores in quick time and puts the opposition in trouble. He is young and energetic and he needs no invitation to go for his shots. When he gets going he becomes quite hard to stop. He, like his partner Dilshan can be really destructive. But what would be interesting to see will be if he can convert those good starts into big scores.

Kumar Sangakkara has been donning the gloves for almost a decade. He has been the mainstream batsman in the team too. One of the most complete batsman to have played the game. But, the thing is Srilanka need Sangakkara the batsman to be fit for the whole tournament. His age might not allow him to do the dual roles of being the mainstream batsman. It might pave the way for the talented wicket keeper batsman Dinesh Chandimal to make the final eleven. But if, Srilanka would take that risk with bowlers like Malinga there in the team experimentation would not be suggested.

Thisara Perera and Angelo Mathews qualifies as one of the best all-rounders in world cricket at the moment. Mathews, currently is the captain of the Srilankan team. He has an uphill task on his shoulders. Since becoming captain, he has been in some good form and has developed his way into a mature batsman. He is more than handy with his medium pacers at the slog overs. Angelo Mathews reminisces the cricketing public about Jaques Kallis who retired months ago. Mathews and Perera are the kind of utility all-rounders you should prematurely have in your team. Perera will contribute with the bat at the end overs with few lusty blows of his own. In Perera, they have someone who can take crucial wickets in the middle overs or bowling well at the death and also a pinch hitter who can finish off innings in style.

Expected: Rangana Herath, Ajantha Mendis

Rangana Herath is one of the best spinners in the world at the moment. He is an orthodox spinner, who doesn&#8217;t have too much variations under his arm but believes in bowling a consistent line. Batsmen need utmost concentration to be able to master this spinner. He, along with Ajmal are the top 2 spinners in both the formats. Since the exit of Muralitharan from the Lankan scheme of things Herath has been the real deal. In the fast, bouncy tracks in Australia and Newzealand he could come in handy. Generally, in these pitches teams tend to go in with a lone spinner but Srilanka has its strengths in spin. Ajanta Mendis brings the mystery element to spin bowling. He and his carrom ball are famous. In the start, when batsmen were new to his way of bowling they struggled to pick this ball. But with experience, they learned to counter it. Since then his progress has taken a halt. He will need to concentrate on bowling an accurate line to be successful overseas and not to over-use the carrom ball. Mystery needs to remain as mystery.

Like Saeed Ajmal and Sohag Gazi, Senanayake too was reported for suspected action months ago. He is back  with a re-modelled action. This off-spinner has all the probabilities of partnering with Herath, provided he proves his form and his action. Expected: Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Kulasekara

In cricket, whatever form it might be you need to hunt in pairs &#8211; be it fast bowling or spin bowling. When it comes to pace bowling, we are often reminded of Wasim-Waqar, Lee-McGrath and Donald-Pollock to name a few. Kulasekara-Malinga might not be that succesful considering the legends listed above, but in world cricket these two are the most experienced the other being Steyn-Morkel. This Srilankan duo has the absolute mix of pace, swing, speed and obviously a lot of variations. While Malinga can be lethal at the start with his lusty pace and at the death overs with his variations and toe crushing yorkers, Kulasekara can be great at the end overs as well. <h2>Wicket Keeper:</h2>
Expected: Kumar Sangakkara, Dinesh Chandimal
Kumar Sangakkara has been donning the gloves for almost a decade. He has been the mainstream batsman in the team too. One of the most complete batsman to have played the game. But, the thing is Srilanka need Sangakkara the batsman to be fit for the whole tournament. His age might not allow him to do the dual roles of being the mainstream batsman. It might pave the way for the talented wicket keeper batsman Dinesh Chandimal to make the final eleven. But if, Srilanka would take that risk with bowlers like Malinga there in the team experimentation would not be suggested.

<h2>All-rounders:</h2>
Expected: Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera
Thisara Perera and Angelo Mathews qualifies as one of the best all-rounders in world cricket at the moment. Mathews, currently is the captain of the Srilankan team. He has an uphill task on his shoulders. Since becoming captain, he has been in some good form and has developed his way into a mature batsman. He is more than handy with his medium pacers at the slog overs. Angelo Mathews reminisces the cricketing public about Jaques Kallis who retired months ago. Mathews and Perera are the kind of utility all-rounders you should prematurely have in your team. Perera will contribute with the bat at the end overs with few lusty blows of his own. In Perera, they have someone who can take crucial wickets in the middle overs or bowling well at the death and also a pinch hitter who can finish off innings in style.

<h2>Spinners: </h2>
Expected: Rangana Herath, Ajantha Mendis
Rangana Herath is one of the best spinners in the world at the moment. He is an orthodox spinner, who doesn&#8217;t have too much variations under his arm but believes in bowling a consistent line. Batsmen need utmost concentration to be able to master this spinner. He, along with Ajmal are the top 2 spinners in both the formats. Since the exit of Muralitharan from the Lankan scheme of things Herath has been the real deal. In the fast, bouncy tracks in Australia and Newzealand he could come in handy. Generally, in these pitches teams tend to go in with a lone spinner but Srilanka has its strengths in spin. Ajanta Mendis brings the mystery element to spin bowling. He and his carrom ball are famous. In the start, when batsmen were new to his way of bowling they struggled to pick this ball. But with experience, they learned to counter it. Since then his progress has taken a halt. He will need to concentrate on bowling an accurate line to be successful overseas and not to over-use the carrom ball. Mystery needs to remain as mystery.
Reserves: Sachitra Senanayake
Like Saeed Ajmal and Sohag Gazi, Senanayake too was reported for suspected action months ago. He is back  with a re-modelled action. This off-spinner has all the probabilities of partnering with Herath, provided he proves his form and his action. Senanayake had been extremely influential in Srilanka&#8217;s success in 2014 helping them win the World T20 and Asia Cup. If things go well, he should be an asset for Srilanka in World Cup 2015.

<h2>Fast Bowlers:</h2>
Expected: Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Kulasekara
In cricket, whatever form it might be you need to hunt in pairs &#8211; be it fast bowling or spin bowling. When it comes to pace bowling, we are often reminded of Wasim-Waqar, Lee-McGrath and Donald-Pollock to name a few. Kulasekara-Malinga might not be that succesful considering the legends listed above, but in world cricket these two are the most experienced the other being Steyn-Morkel. This Srilankan duo has the absolute mix of pace, swing, speed and obviously a lot of variations. While Malinga can be lethal at the start with his lusty pace and at the death overs with his variations and toe crushing yorkers, Kulasekara can be great at the end overs as well. In their T20 World Cup final, it was Kulasekara&#8217;s bowling that made Yuvraj Singh and other premier batsman wilt under pressure.
