Stats: Chattogram Challengers and Dhaka Platoon fight out in a high-scoring match in the BPL

Chattogram Challengers firm their top spot in the BPL 2019-20 points table as they cruised to their 4th win in five matches. In the Wednesday night game against the Dhaka Platoon, the Challengers posted a record total of 221/4. Lendl Simmons (57) and skipper Mahmudullah (59) struck fifties for the home team while three other batsmen scored 25+.

No player from Dhaka’s top five barring Mominul Haque (52) scored big runs in the chase. However, a 6-ball 23 from Mashrafe Mortaza and a 27-ball 47 by Thisara Perera took Platoon past 200. They were bowled out on the last ball of the innings after posting 205.

All the statistical highlights from the high-scoring match between Challengers and Platoon:

426 – A total of 426 runs were aggregated by the Challengers and Platoon in the game on Wednesday night in Chattogram. This is now the highest aggregated match in the Twenty20 format in Bangladesh. The previous highest was 422 runs during the 2012/13 BPL season match between Barisal Burners and Duronto Rajshahi.


221/4 – The Chattogram Challengers’ total of 221/4 in this game is now the 3rd highest BPL total. The highest is 239/4 by Rangpur Riders against Chittagong Vikings and 237/5 by Comilla Victorians against Khulna Titans recorded in space of four days during the 2018/19 season.


9 – Number of fifties for Mahmudullah Riyad has struck in the BPL thus far; the joint 3rd most 50+ scores in the league history by any player. Only Tamim Iqbal (18) and Mushfiqur Rahim (12) are placed higher than Mahmudullah in this list. Marlon Samuels and Chris Gayle also have nine fifty-plus scores in the BPL.


60 – Nasir Hossain conceded 60 runs in his four overs while playing for the Chattogram Challengers. These are the most runs conceded by any player in a BPL match. The previous most runs conceded in a BPL game was 59 runs by Mohammad Saddam in the 2018/19 season match for Comilla Victorians against Khulna Titans.


78 – Mahmudullah and Mashrafe Mortaza featured in 78 matches in the Bangladesh Premier League till date; the most by any player in the league history. The duo went past Sabbir Rahman’s 77 appearances during the Wednesday’s night match.


205 – The Dhaka Platoon’s total of 205 is first all-out 200+ total in a Twenty20 game in Bangladesh. This is also the 2nd 200+ T20 total while chasing a target in Bangladesh. Barisal Burners made 209/7 in response to the target of 214 set by Duronto Rajshahi during the 2012/13 edition of the BPL.


284 – A total of 284 runs came through boundaries in this match – 35 fours and 24 sixes; the joint-most boundary runs in any T20 game in Bangladesh. The BPL 2018/19 season match between Chittagong Vikings and Khulna Titans also witnessed 284 runs being scored through boundaries. Both the teams hit 38 fours and 22 maximums in this match.


1050 – Runs Mominul Haque has amassed in the BPL thus far; the 12th player in the league to have aggregated 1000+ runs. Mominul needed two runs to reach this milestone but ended up scoring 52.
