Stats: Indian batsmen who returned to bat after having retired hurt in Tests

After a decent first innings on comeback, Indian opener Gautam Gambhir’s 2nd outing with the bat was cut down as he hurt his shoulder and returned retired hurt in the ongoing 3rd Test against New Zealand at the Holkar Stadium, Indore on the 3rd day. Gambhir, who left the field during New Zealand’s first innings after landing on his right shoulder while diving to stop the ball hurt his shoulder again while batting as he dived while stealing a quick run.

However, on the 4th day morning, Gambhir returned to bat and scored a quick-fire fifty before getting dismissed. His was the 52nd instance of an Indian player to leave the field retired hurt while batting and the 30th instance where the player who returned to bat again.
