Stats: Instances of captain and wicket-keeper being dismissed run out in same innings in IPL

Robin Uthappa and Rohit Sharma have been involved in two such instances each.

Gujarat Lions duo of Suresh Raina and Dinesh Karthik entered the unique list of players when they were run out in the match against the Rising Pune Supergiant in the match 39 of IPL 10. They became only the 5th captain and wicket keeper duo to have been dismissed run out in the same innings in the history of the Indian Premier League. In the match, Raina was run out on 8 and Karthik managed to score 29. Robin Uthappa and Rohit Sharma have been involved in two such instances each.

The first captain and wicket keeper duo to have been involved in run outs in the same innings were Sourav Ganguly and Robin Uthappa. Playing for the now-defunct Pune Warriors, against the Chennai Superkings in the 2012 edition of the tournament, skipper Sourav Ganguly was run out on 16. Earlier in the same game, Robin Uthappa was run out on 1o.

In the 2014 edition of the IPL, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma was run out on 4 against the Delhi Daredevils ar Sharjah. Their wicket-keeper, CM Gautham, was also dismissed on 22 as a remix-upf a mix up at the crease later in the game.

The 2016 edition of the IPL saw two such instances taking place. Robin Uthappa found himself involved in the mixup for the Kolkata Knight Riders this time around. He was run out of 54 against the Kings XI Punjab at Kolkata. The captain of the KKR, Gautam Gambhir, was also sent packing on the same score in the same match as a result of a run out.

Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma finds his name in the list again. Rohit was run out against Delhi Daredevils in one of the fixtures last year. Wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel also departed as a result of a run out in the same match.
