Ishan Kishan’s maiden stint as captain of the Jharkhand team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament has been a fruitful one so far for him and the team. The 20-year-old began with a 7-ball duck against Delhi before smashing an unbeaten hundred against Jammu and Kashmir on the very next day. With this knock, he became only the 5th keeper-captain and the first from India to score a century in the Twenty20 format. Two days after the knock, Kishan came up with yet another hundred with Manipur on the receiving side.

The 20-year-old struck 113 from 62 deliveries with help of 12 fours and five sixes. Ishan was cautious through his innings and hitting a boundary regularly. He raised his century from 54 balls; one less than what he needed during his three-figure score against J&K.

Ishan shared an unbeaten 165-run partnership for the 2nd wicket with Virat Singh who scored 73 from 46 balls. Jharkhand finished with 219/1 in their 20 overs and registered their 3rd consecutive win of the tournament by a 121-run margin as they restricted Manipur to 98/9.

Some numbers from his knock:

113* – The unbeaten 113 is the highest individual score by a keeper-captain in T20 format surpassing Moin Khan’s 112 in 2005.

2 – Ishan is the 2nd player after Adam Gilchrist to score two T20 centuries as a keeper-captain. He is also the 2nd wicket-keeper from India to score more than one century after Rishabh Pant.

113* – Kishan’s 113 is also the highest individual T20 score for Jharkhand surpassing Ishank Jaggi’s 108* against Andhra in 2015. Jaggi is the only other player to score a T20 ton for Jharkhand.

8 – By scoring centuries in back to back games, Kishan became only the 8th player in Twenty20 history to score consecutive hundreds. He is the 2nd Indian to achieve this feat after Unmukt Chand who scored back to back centuries for Delhi in the 2013 SM Ali T20.
