Jemimah Rodrigues excelled with the bat in his debut Kia Super League (KSL) season as she finds herself in the leading run-getters list. She didn’t have best of starts to her stint with the Yorkshire Diamonds having scored only 54 runs from first four innings. But once Jemimah got her maiden fifty, she didn’t look behind. The 18-year-old cross 30-run mark in five consecutive innings since then.

In her last five innings, Rodrigues amassed 287 runs at an impressive average of 143.5. With 341 runs in the season, Jemimah stands as the 2nd highest run-getter in the tournament. In due course, she also became the first player from the Diamonds team to score 300+ runs in an edition of KSL. Beth Mooney’s 267 runs in the last edition were the most runs in a KSL season for her club.

On Sunday, Jemimah took her team to a memorable victory over the Southern Vipers with her maiden century in the Twenty20 format. Jemimah Rodrigues scored an unbeaten 112 from only 58 deliveries with 17 fours and a maximum. Her knock powered the Diamonds to compile the highest successful chase of 185 over the Vipers. The Indian batter stayed till the last moment and saw her team over the line.

She struck a crucial boundary in the final over when 8 needed from 5 balls of the bowling of Suzie Bates. Earlier in the last week, Jemimah got out exactly in a similar situation against Bates. Jemi ensured no mistake was made this time around and finished with the 2nd highest individual score in KSL. The highest Kia Super League score is recorded by Suzie Bates only in 2017. It was incidentally the first-ever hundred in the KSL.

Overall, Rodrigues’ hundred is the 6th in KSL but the first by a non-opener. She came to bat at No.3 after their skipper Lauren Winfield got out on the 2nd ball of the chase. Her century came in only 51 deliveries making it the fastest hundred in this league history. Lizelle Lee’s 55-ball hundred in the 2017 edition final was the previous fastest KSL ton. Rodrigues’ 17 fours during her ton are also the most by any player in a KSL inning.
