Rohit Sharma often finds it easy to bat against the Australian team in the limited-overs. One of the major factors contributing to Rohit’s success against the Aussies is playing Down Under and facing their pacers on a regular basis, who try to bowl short balls. The opener enjoys facing the short stuff and dispatching them with his trademark pull shots.

It is no wonder that the Indian ODI team vice-captain holds the record for scoring more sixes in ODIs and Internationals against the Australians. Rohit Sharma began his second appearance at the World Cups with an unbeaten century against South Africa. He scored 122 in the run chase against some quality seam bowling by the Saffers and was adjudged the man of the match.

Rohit continued his form against Australia with a half-century while batting first at the Kennington Oval. This was the first time Rohit has scored fifty and more runs in four consecutive innings in the ODI format. He scored 57 from 70 deliveries with three fours and a six before he edged one behind to Nathan Coulter-Nile in the 23rd over. When on 20, Rohit became only the 4th player to aggregate 2000 runs in ODI cricket.

Rohit Sharma thus became the fastest to this milestone taking only 37 innings. Sachin Tendulkar previously held the record for being the fastest to 2000 ODI runs against the Aussies needing 40 innings. In fact, Rohit is also the fastest player to 2000 ODI runs against any opposition. Till date, there 21 occurrences of a minimum of 2000 ODI runs scored by individuals against an opponent.

However, none before Rohit have got to the milestone in less than 40 innings. Sachin’s requirement of 40 innings for 2000 ODI runs against Australia is at 2nd in this list. Rohit is also one of the two players to average 60+ against an opposition. The Indian opener is currently averaging 61.72 against the Aussies while the former skipper MS Dhoni averages 64.4 against Sri Lanka.
