There have also been several emerging leaders in the past who have led their young U19 team to the topmost stature. India Under-19 captain, 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw has also recorded his name among those prominent leaders after guiding his team to the U19 World Cup title in New Zealand. The Indian team embraced the show in the Kiwi nation with an incredible and commendable performance.

By defeating the Aussies in the final match of 2018 edition of the tournament by 8 wickets, Shaw has now become the youngest skipper ever to win a U19 World Cup trophy. It is quite a memorable and cherishing moment for the skipper who has been excellent while leading the team. His robust spirit and exuberant energy added zeal to the victorious campaign.

The right-handed opener has also played a crucial hand with the bat in the big event, as he has contributed two crucial half-centuries at the top. Shaw overcame the record which was previously held Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh who won the junior World Cup in 2010 when he was just 18 years and 102 days old.

It took almost 8 years for someone to break Marsh’s record. Pakistan cricketer Khalid Latif occupies the third spot in the list of youngest captains to win the U19 World Cup, as he achieved the title in 2004 at the age of 18 years, 122 days.

The fourth name on the tally belongs to another Australian junior team skipper, Cameron White who led them in the 2002 edition of the event at a budding age of 18 years and 175 days. The current skipper of the senior Pakistani team is the fifth name on the list, as he won the competition in 2006 at 18 years, 273 days.

He happens to be the only name out of the rest who is also the captain of the senior team. Sarfraz also proved his worth and guidance in leading his national elder team at the grandest stage in the glorious campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England and Wales.
