Australia skipper Steve Smith is all set to marry his fiance Dani Willis in September this year amidst the hectic schedule of the cricketer. The duo was recently spotted in the Allan Border Medal 2018 which held in Melbourne. Smith was awarded the Test player of the year and also won the Allan Border Medal or the second year in the running for his exceptional batting performances in 2017.
The couple has been together for a long time now and got engaged in June last year when the Australian skipper proposed Dani Willis while at Manhattan’s Top of The Rock at Rockefeller Centre. Both first met way back in 2011 when Dani was a law and commerce student at Macquarie University.
Dani Willis confirmed the news on the sidelines of the award function and hoped that her Smith will be available during that period. “We are looking around September. Hopefully, Steve will be around as I can’t Skype him for that one,” she was quoted as saying by sportswallah.
What next for Smith?
Steve Smith is currently in South Africa for the upcoming four-match Test series against Proteas which will commence on March 1. He was in excellent form during the prestigious Ashes series at home and raked in a lot of runs. He was even compared with the all-time great Don Bradman during the course of the five Test matches. However, he could not replicate the same in the subsequent ODI series against their arch-rivals as Australia lost the series by 4-1.
The 28-year-old would be itching to get on to the field now after a break and continue the winning run of his team albeit in the longest format of the game. Australia will play a three-day warm-up game against South Africa A side starting on February 22 in Benoni ahead of the much-awaited Test series. The opening match will be played at Kingsmead in Durban.
