India were chasing a stiff target of 349 runs set by Australia after they declared overnight for 251 at the loss of 6 wickets on the final day of the fourth and the last test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15. India started to lose control over the chase after 2 wickets in quick succession. After the first Indian wicket fell in the form of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma came in to partner Murali Vijay in the middle at No3. Rohit started batting well and was settling down quickly. He even survived a close stumping call off the bowling of Nathan Lyon.

Rohit Sharma was at the score of 39 off 90 deliveries when he lazily tried to guide down a short of length ball from pacer Ryan Harris down to third man. The ball extracted some extra bounce off the wicket and Sharma could not keep the ball down. It flew to the right of Australian skipper Steven Smith who was at first slip, standing wider than the regular position. He immediately leaped to his right and grabbed the difficult chance. It almost felt as if he flew in the air with a very amusing reaction on his face! India were starting to progress comfortably in their chase. It broke the partnership between Murali Vijay and Rohit Sharma and brought a crucial breakthrough for Australia. This effort stunned everyone including Rohit Sharma.
