Sunfoil is all set to part ways with Cricket South Africa (CSA) as their main sponsors. Their contract is set to expire at the end of this year and the company isn’t keen on renewing the deal. They were in charge of the Test cricket and the four-day domestic tournament of the country. Recently, even Ram Couriers ended their association with the Ram Slam T20 series.

This will mark the end of Sunfoil’s seven-year-long relationship with CSA. However, a CSA official expressed that they were already in talks with other companies for a replacement. A final arrangement is yet to be finalized on the matter. Meanwhile, CSA has a lot of issues including the prospect of introducing a new T20 league in talks. The Global T20 League which was postponed last year and was earlier scheduled to be played later year but they have failed to rope in broadcasters and sponsors and could be scrapped.

Have mutually decided to focus on other areas of opportunity

While the Willowton Group decided to end their sponsorship deal, they will continue to maintain the Sunfoil Education Trust and also work at grassroots levels. Their association with the national side runs back to the 2011/12 Test match series against Australia. The CEO of the company Mohammed Zubair Moosa stated they’ll continue to discuss about other developmental operations.

“After years of involvement with Cricket South Africa, we have mutually decided to focus on other areas of opportunity. We will continue to discuss these opportunities with Cricket South Africa in this regard,” the CEO was quoted as saying by SA Cricket Mag.

After another fall out with the broadcast partner chief executive, Thabang Moroe suggested that they do not have to host a T20 league to prove their healthy state of affairs.

“The game of cricket in SA is in a healthy state, as demonstrated by the growth in cricket development at grassroots levels. A healthy pipeline of young future talent, as well as women’s cricket that has progressed with leaps and bounds.” CSA chief executive said according to Sports 24.
