Whilst the cricketing fraternity admire the legend of Sunil Gavaskar, there are a lot of people who wonder whom does the great man admire. Not all of them are aware of a fact that Gavaskar is a football fanatic and is a huge fan of Arsene Wenger, the head coach of English Premier League giants Arsenal.

Bollywood producer and fashion photographer Atul Kasbekar, who also is an avid fan of Arsenal, informed Puma company officials that the legendary Indian cricketer loves Wenger to the core and what the officials did was indeed a kind hearted gesture. Puma Football ensured they informed the club about Gavaskar and the club was delighted with the fact that such an immortal of sporting fraternity admired them.

Kasbekar gifts an unforgettable present to his idol

They decided to gift a customized Arsenal jersey, signed by Arsene Wenger himself. The 68-year-old was expectedly delighted with the wonderful present and Kasbekar shared the entire story on his official twitter handle.

“My hero Sunil Gavaskar is a huge fan of Arsene Wenger and hence Arsenal. I told Puma Football and they got Arsene to send Sunnybhai a signed jersey,” read his tweet.

Arsene Wenger has been under the scrutiny over the last three four years as his club has failed to win anything barring the FA Cup. It’s been over a decade since they won the prestigious Premier League and that is annoying their fans a lot. Yet, another fact that people can’t disregard is Wenger is the man who made Arsenal a force to reckon with and it barely seems amusing that Gavaskar admires him.

It was under his inspirational leadership where the likes of Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Robert Pires and Jens Lehmann helped Arsenal register a 49-match unbeaten streak, which happens to be the highest in English football history till this date. An ardent sports fanatic, Gavaskar has great knowledge about various sports across the globe. He follows Tennis, Football, Hockey, Boxing and various other sports. But above all, Football is something he admires a lot more.
